It expresses emotions such as relaxation, romance, happiness, sadness and touches the inner heart. I’ve always loved to listen to music from a very young age. It is a universal language that speaks where words have failed and touches everyone emotionally. It knows no color, gender, background, status or financial class. Its fundamental purpose it to understand the soul, although it can’t be translated.

My iPod and iPhone are what I mainly use to listen to my music. The radio is the last place I will listen to music, because I like to listen uninterrupted, and therefore I have an extensive collection. I am always discovering new way to listen to it and recently become obsessed with collecting vinyl records.

My records are purchased from local records stores, vintage shops and of course the thrift store. These records are original pressed and not re-mastered, but are the original version of the album. Which can be hard to find, but I have manage to find some great ones.

If you ever go there ask for Roger his service was amazing. I purchased an original 1983 Technics SL-QX300 along with the 1977 Technics by Panasonic receiver. While this not the best of the best sound system, it is compact enough to fit into my bedroom. In addition, it has amazing sound quality to me.

  1. These are my kind of GOALS – vintage records on an authentic vintage record player. We’re having a hard time finding an affordable and authentic record player here in Atlanta, but I cant wait until we’re finally able to bring one home. I’d actually love to have Solange’s A Seat at the Table on vinyl in addition to the classics.

    1. Lol. You should me a trip to Birmingham, they are probably a lot cheaper here then in ATL, for sure. Yes, I still have to purchase that Solange’s album, it so amazing.

  2. I can’t believe you could still find something to play the records on, that still works! I have a lot of tapes, and my tape players don’t work anymore.

  3. I agree with you that music is an universal language! It has this ability to communicate to people through their souls, which is so beautiful!
A vintage sound system is “key” to really get engage with the music.

  4. Music definitely makes a huge impact in our life and I agree that it is the universal language which has the power to change your mood so easily. I listen to music during cooking, working and at times even on a late night when I feel a bit down!

  5. My collection of music suck. I need to do better but I have a BF who loves music so I guess he’s the music guy in the house, he knows just what to play at the right time.
