The 70’s Vibe Cream & Black Mini Dress

I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

First let me start off by saying happy MLK day! It was an honor to have such a great man preach and speak love, in a time of such great hate. I thank Dr. King for laying down his life, so that my kids and myself could have a better life!

The 70’s had some great fashion trends. While, I didn’t care for all the patterns and prints, the silhouettes and structures of the clothing are what I love.  From the high-waisted bell bottoms, the pussy bow blouses to the mini dresses.

As you know, I am an avid thrift shopper and I find some amazing piece sometimes. I think this patterned mini dress was one of those times. I saw this and instantly knew I had to have it. While it is not super short on me, hit tight at middle of my thighs. I think it stops at a great length for me to pull off this look on different occasions. I also want to mention that I am not all about labels and designers. If I see a piece that I love,  and it’s good quality, I will buy it. So in this case, this is not a label that I have ever heard of, but I still think it was a great buy.

This dress appears black and white, but is really a light cream color with paint stroke patterned black lines. The sleeves hit right below the elbow and have a slight bell sleeve effect.

The dress is the main focal point of this outfit, pairing it with these black, opaque tights and BCBG black leather ankle boots,  gives it that 70’s vibe I was going for.  All and all this piece is amazing and although the dress itself is not something I normally would wear, I love it. Additionally, I love the fact it was in a neutral color, my favorite of course. Finally, what do you think of the 70’s fashion trends? What are some of your favorites, leave a comment below!

  1. Beautiful! Love the design of the dress very chic! I enjoy a genre inspired outfit myself. The booties accompany the dress very nicely as well!

  2. Love the dress on you, and how you styled it! I don’t know why I’m so “afraid” of wearing dresses. I find a lot aren’t flattering (on me) 🙁

  3. The pattern of that dress is so pretty! It’s the kind that you could keep really simple and sleek with neutral accessories, or brighten up with little splashes of color. So versatile.
